Good style, good conscience, good feeling
Here you will learn
Sustainability is not a passing trend but an ideal we should all strive for. Only by treating our environment with respect will it be preserved for us, our children, and future generations. We at Mamarella also share this mission of "greater sustainability." We already offer a wide selection of stylish and sustainable maternity wear and are constantly working to develop the Mamarella collection with a special focus on sustainable materials and fair production processes. Especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it's important to choose the purest and most certified materials.
to be available in your wardrobe and also in baby clothes .
Our range of sustainable maternity wear , nursing wear , baby equipment , and diaper bags at Mamarella combines good style with a clear conscience. This is ensured, among other things, by using fabrics from organic farming or recycled materials, fair production conditions, and reducing emissions and waste during the manufacturing process. Products made with fur are completely out of the question for us. But beyond the origin and production of a product, its use also contributes to its sustainability, especially its lifespan. Therefore
When putting together our collections, we pay attention to the materials and the manufacturing process.
especially on sustainable designs.
Intrigued? If you're now wondering about the sustainability aspects of our maternity and nursing wear designs and what distinguishes sustainable fashion from conventional fashion, then you've come to the right place. In our guide, you'll learn what makes our "Organic" and "Eco" maternity and nursing wear and accessories so great, how to recognize them, and what you can do yourself to make your clothing more sustainable.
Organic cotton: Cotton is a rapidly renewable and biodegradable resource. However, organically grown cotton offers several additional ecological advantages over conventional cotton. Most importantly, the use of genetic engineering, chemical pesticides, and fertilizers is prohibited in organic cotton cultivation. This protects soil fertility and wildlife. Furthermore, organic cotton cultivation uses less water than conventional cotton cultivation.
Organic cotton maternity wear is not only sustainable, but also exceptionally soft and gentle on the skin, durable, and easy to care for. You'll find a wide selection of casual maternity shirts , dresses , and trousers , as well as loungewear and sleepwear made from organic cotton, and maternity jeans . Our Mamarella Organic maternity jeans and jeggings offer an additional environmental benefit: they are not only made primarily from organic cotton, but we also avoid using chemicals in the washing process. Furthermore, the water used in the manufacturing process is only returned to the water cycle after thorough cleaning. Here you'll find these fantastic pieces with the potential to become your absolute favorite jeans during and after your pregnancy.
Tencel™: Tencel™ lyocell and modal fibers from the Austrian company Lenzing AG are produced from wood, a natural raw material, using an environmentally friendly and resource-conserving process. Clothing made from Tencel™ fibers is particularly skin-friendly, durable, easy to care for, and moisture-wicking. We especially love dresses, tops, and trousers made from this fine, sustainable material.
EcoVero™: EcoVero™ viscose fibers also come from Lenzing. Like Tencel™ fibers, EcoVero™ viscose is made from sustainably sourced wood and pulp. It is certified with the EU Ecolabel and meets high environmental standards from raw material extraction and production to distribution and disposal. The production of EcoVero™ fibers consumes up to 50% less emissions and water compared to conventional viscose.
EcoVero™ viscose is not only easy to care for, but also exceptionally smooth and soft. It drapes beautifully and feels incredibly comfortable against the skin. It is also breathable and moisture-wicking. This sustainable viscose fiber is therefore perfect for underwear and airy summer clothing, but our personal EcoVero™ highlights are our short wedding dresses: the EcoVero maternity wedding dress with a keyhole back and the EcoVero maternity wedding dress with a twist detail , in which many beautiful Mamarella brides have already said "I do."
Recycled materials: In our range, you'll also find many clothing items, diaper bags, and accessories that we've marked with the "Eco" label. These are products made from recycled materials, such as discarded fishing nets or old PET bottles. This "waste" is processed and transformed into new fibers, allowing it to be reused instead of ending up in landfill. You might have already heard of Repreve™ in this context. It's one of these recycled polyester fibers, and it's also produced in a particularly water-saving and resource-conserving way. We love it!
It's very important to know that clothing and products made from recycled fibers are not of lower quality than items made from new materials. You can neither see nor feel the difference. On the contrary, eco-friendly dresses, jackets, and bags are often particularly durable. Our favorite recycled product, for example, is our Eco Thermo maternity leggings made from super-stretchy fabric. They consist of over 80% recycled polyamide, and their special material composition makes them exceptionally shape-retaining and antibacterial. They also have an anti-pilling effect, protecting you from annoying lint. Last but not least, they keep you and your baby bump cozy and warm on cold days.
GOTS (Global Textile Standard): Clothing with GOTS certification consists of at least 70% organic material and has been produced under strict social and environmental guidelines. GOTS maternity and nursing wear is therefore not only eco-friendly maternity wear but also fair trade maternity wear. The Global Textile Standard is recognized worldwide as a leading and trusted label for sustainable textiles.
BCI (Better Cotton Initiative): This program certifies the sustainable production of cotton, which does not necessarily have to be organic cotton. The Better Cotton Initiative focuses primarily on sustainable cotton cultivation that conserves water and reduces the use of chemicals to the bare minimum, as well as on the well-being and rights of all workers involved in the production process.
EU Ecolabel: This label is only awarded to products that meet very high environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle.
MADE IN GREEN by OKO TEX®: Garments bearing this label are not only completely free of harmful substances, but also come from sustainable and socially responsible production.
GRS (Global Recycled Standard): This standard certifies products made from recycled materials worldwide. To receive the certificate, not only must the final product consist of at least 50% recycled material, but each step of the manufacturing process must also be environmentally friendly and socially responsible.
Sustainable maternity and nursing wear is easily identifiable by the "Sustainable" label in the preview image and on the product page. Use the filter function to view all sustainable styles in each category at a glance. Or browse our Sustainable Maternity Wear collection directly and find your new favorite pieces – it couldn't be easier!
Besides the materials and manufacturing of our maternity wear, we also pay particular attention to the sustainable design of our beautiful pieces. What do we mean by "sustainable design"? Quite simply: We want our maternity clothes to last you a long time and not just be discarded, but to accompany you and bring you joy for as long as possible. Four factors play a crucial role in achieving this: quality, fit, breastfeeding functionality, and the cut (with and without a baby bump).
1) The quality
The high quality of our maternity wear guarantees that it will fit perfectly and look great even after frequent wear and many washes. That's why high-quality, easy-care, durable, and shape-retaining materials are a given for us. Our maternity wear won't just last through your first pregnancy, but easily through your second, third, fourth… and even your friend's and sister's, if you want to pass it on later!
2) The fit
Our maternity wear is designed to fit you in your regular size right up until the day you give birth. This is ensured by features such as stretch panels at the hips and belly, or a slightly asymmetrical cut, so that our maternity shirts and dresses don't become too short as your pregnancy progresses. This means that maternity clothes you buy in your fourth month of pregnancy will still fit you perfectly in your ninth and tenth months. So you don't have to buy new clothes every few weeks.
3) The breastfeeding function
Many of our maternity clothes feature discreetly hidden nursing openings, making breastfeeding easy later on. So after giving birth, you don't need to completely revamp your wardrobe; you can simply continue wearing your pregnancy favorites – at least until the end of your breastfeeding period, or even longer…
4) The cut (with and without baby bump)
Think you can only wear maternity clothes when you have a baby bump? Those days are long gone. Our maternity wear is designed to look great even after pregnancy. During pregnancy, it accentuates your bump while giving it plenty of room to grow. In the postpartum recovery phase, our maternity pants, shirts, and dresses are not only incredibly comfortable, but they also provide a flattering silhouette. And even long after giving birth, you can wear most of our stylish pieces without them being immediately recognizable as maternity wear.
You too can contribute to the sustainability of your Mamarella maternity wear. It starts with choosing and ordering your new favorite pieces.
For your very first maternity clothes shopping trip, we recommend our maternity wear guide . There, we've clearly summarized how much and what kind of maternity clothes you really need as a basic wardrobe. If you follow this guide, you'll avoid potential impulse buys that will just end up unworn in your closet.
Within the 14-day return period, you can easily send items back. However, every return also means avoidable emissions due to the transport of the goods to and from the store. To minimize returns, avoid ordering the same item of clothing in multiple sizes.
Our size guide will help you find the right size. If you're still unsure which size fits, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service. Our professional customer advisors have years of experience with maternity wear and will be happy to assist you. Simply send us an email to support@mamarella.com or give us a call at +49 89 14727690.
Once you've found your new favorite piece, it's important to treat it with care. When washing your maternity clothes, follow the washing and care instructions on the garment labels. This will protect the material and colors, ensuring your clothes look like new even after many washes.
If you choose maternity wear with nursing features during your pregnancy, you can comfortably continue wearing your new shirts and dresses while breastfeeding and long afterward. When buying maternity clothes, make sure they suit your style and that you would wear them even without a baby bump. Then your maternity dress will quickly become your favorite dress for life!
And what if you decide you want to part with your maternity clothes later? Then let them find a new home and give them away or donate them so they can bring joy to other expectant mothers. Sustainability at its best!
