But when it comes to baby textiles, design is initially secondary. Far more important are features like good skin compatibility, environmentally friendly production, and the use of soft, breathable materials. Wrapped up and snuggled in a warm, soft blanket, they can experience this feeling of security even in unfamiliar places. You can easily take the cuddly blanket with you everywhere: in the stroller, in the crib, or in the car seat. A baby blanket is always a great addition. It can be folded up small, but in no time at all, it can be transformed into a comfortable place for your baby to lie down. It's a fantastic all-rounder.

There are various materials suitable for different situations. The most well-known is probably cotton, which is also ideal for baby blankets. It is particularly gentle on a baby's sensitive skin and reduces the risk of irritation. A blanket made of organic cotton is especially recommended.

Another great material is muslin. It's a particularly soft and textured fabric. Strictly speaking, it's also mostly cotton, but double-layered and stitched together at specific points on the front and back. Because of these properties, the fabric stays soft wash after wash, is absorbent, breathable, and feels fluffier than regular cotton. Besides baby blankets, most swaddles and burp cloths are also made from this fabric.

When choosing a play and crawling mat, make sure it's not only made of high-quality material, but ideally also lightly padded and a bit thicker. This way, your baby can play and crawl even on hard surfaces. There are some great models available with reversible designs that are perfect for children!

Lambskins for babies

If you're looking for something special, you could consider a lambskin for your baby. There's hardly anything as soft and yet as temperature-regulating as natural fur. It's just as versatile as cotton baby blankets and can be used in strollers and buggies, or as a changing and play mat. Lambskins are also dirt-repellent and, thanks to their cuddly qualities, provide a particularly comforting feeling.

The right size for baby blankets

The standard size for a baby blanket is 80x80 cm. That might not sound big, but it's perfectly adequate. Since they're tailored to your baby, you can also use them as a swaddle blanket. However, playmats can be a bit larger: 100x100 cm and 120x120 cm are also common.
